Senior Vice President honored for leadership, innovation in the energy sector

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Brenna Melvin, Senior Vice President within Alliant’s Energy and Marine Group, has been honored as one of 2017’s Women to Watch by Business Insurance. A longtime energy veteran and independent power specialist, Melvin was honored for her vast industry expertise and high-impact leadership as the division continues to post remarkable growth within the sector.

“Brenna has set herself apart in the energy sector for her ability to look at her clients’ total risk picture and deliver an innovative solution that not only protects their assets, but strengthens their bottom line,” said John Ludwig, Executive Vice President and Senior Managing Director, Energy and Marine Group. “Brenna is an innovator, a mentor, and an industry expert who brings tremendous leadership to both Alliant and the insurance industry at large.”

Melvin leads the service and marketing efforts for the power generation division of Alliant’s Energy and Marine Group. She specializes in crafting builder’s risk and operational property programs for clients with power facilities throughout the world, including solar, wind, hydroelectric, combined-cycle, cogeneration, duel fuel, and coal-fired projects.

With more than 26 years of industry experience and 19 in the independent power sector, Melvin is highly regarded for combining operational review, contract review, risk mitigation, and insurance strategies to deliver a holistic and comprehensive approach to energy risk. Since joining Alliant in late 2016, Melvin has overseen the development of a range of best practices within the group that have already generated more than 25 percent revenue growth, and climbing.
